Operation School Bell

Assistance League of Pasadena has helped over 20,500 students since 1990

We reach out to underserved elementary school children in the Pasadena Unified School District that encompasses the cities of Pasadena, Altadena and Sierra Madre.

Assistance League of Pasadena supplies these children with:

  • 3 uniform polo shirts
  • 2 uniform pants or skorts
  • 1 jacket
  • 4 pairs of socks
  • 6 underwear
  • Personal care basics
  • A book
  • A Payless ShoeSource voucher

Thank you to Assistance League of Flintridge® for partnering with us to supply Payless ShoeSource® shoe vouchers and personal care items to each child.

Did You Know?

Did you know that 66% of students enrolled in the Pasadena Unified School District are also enrolled in free or reduced-rate meal programs at their schools?

When you look at only the schools we serve, the percentage jumps above 70%. A significant number of children in the Pasadena Unified School District are economically deprived. Their families cannot afford the school uniforms that students are asked to wear. We give these children a greater opportunity to succeed at school. Our goal is to raise their self-esteem, thereby increasing their school attendance and ultimately their school performance.

Operation School Bell is 100% staffed by volunteers.

As a result, Operation School Bell has very low administrative costs. Our direct costs are also low since our volunteers carefully shop for the best values.
